Pain when Bite after Root Canal Treatment?
Hi, I just had a root canal done on a previously crowned tooth (dentist drill through the crown) today. The dentist placed a tempororary filling on it and would be seeing him in 2 weeks time to put the permanent filling. However, I’m having pain when i bite/chew with that tooth (even with soft food). There is no other types of pain (no soreness)
Is this normal? I thought after doing root canal, one is not expected to feel any pain.
its normal, pain to biting is caused by irritation of the ligament around your tooth. When doing a root canal they need to clean all the way to the very end fo the root, this often means that instruments or cleaning solution will come into contact with the ligament which bruises it and so when you bite on it its like poking a bruise. The irritation could also be the result of the bite being off, however if it feels fine when you bite your teeth together without chewing on something then it should go away on its own in a few days. If when you bite your teeth without chewing something it hurts then get your bite adjusted
