should I put alcohol on a mild second degree burn to help prevent infection?
I bit into a (very hot) Hot Pocket and a piece of super-heated broccoli plopped out and left a burn about the size of a dime on my lower lip. According to webmd (spare me the jokes, lol) its a superficial partial-thickness second degree burn, if that means anything to anyone. 24 hours in, not showing any signs of infection, I’ve been applying moisturizer to the area constantly as the winter here is very severe anyway, exacerbating the dried area. The burn is red in color, and blanches when pressed. the burn itself is moist, and is mildly painful. it bleeds when aggravated, which unfortunately occurs when I eat.

Don’t put alcohol on it! As everyone else said, it will hurt and taste horrible (if it gets in your mouth)
Don’t even put ointment on it unless necessary ], as it will trap in the heat and make it take longer to heal. The best thing is to put cold water on it, but that might be a challenge if it is on your lip. try holding a cup of cold water to it.
