An In-Depth Report on Electronic Cigarettes by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States compiled a conclusive review of an electronic cigarette called: “Evaluation of the electronic cigarette“.
This review became infamous because of it’s unfair handling of the electronic cigarette industry. The report was compiled for NJoy, a company who was targetted by the FDA by their testing. It should be noted that this company is under litigation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A summary of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)‘s analysis is below. Some credit must go to Janci Chunn Lindsay, Ph.D. who analysed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)‘s original analysis.
Analogy:
* The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)‘s analysis failed present standard protocols for a accurate analysis with reference to the usage of a control device, documenting the amount of cartridges used across tests.
* The chemicals found within of other nicotine-containing products that have been Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tested and approved was not completely described with regards to the presence of tobacco nitrosamines (TSNAs) as well as other tobacco-associated impurities that have been found in nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) devices at similar levels.
* In the devices that were investigated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), none of the important chemicals of worry in the analysis like TSNAs and tobacco impurities were able to be quantifiably measured in the liquid from NJoy’s cartridges – they were all well below the limits of quantification (LOQ).
* The tobacco issues found in the NJoy’s products were “present but at less than the level than the Nicotrol inhaler specification” – says the FDA analysis. The Nicotrol inhaler is a FDA approved device.
* There is no indication in the literature that B-nicotyrine are carcinogenic substances or are toxins to be concerned about. These chemicals were the only tobacco impurities discovered in small in the vapor phase of some of NJoy’s products.
* The review doesn’t reflect the real dose of nicotine served to the user from the controlled Nicotol inhaler when used as recommended by the manufacturer. In comparison, Njoy’s devices gave less in the highest strength liquid used, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) report.
