Does Monistat Chafing Relief Gel make a good primer for oily skin?
I’ve heard a lot about how great Monistat Chafing Relief Gel is as a primer under makeup, so I thought I’d try it out. I’ve never used a primer before, but I have a big day coming up and thought I’d try to look extra-good. However, my skin tends to get really oily after about 4 hours and wondered if it would work to help keep the shine down, or just make it worse.
No it’s horrible on oily skin just as Smashbox Photo finish is. It’ll make it oilier and will make foundation slide off.
If you have oily skin and want a drugstore priced alternative, try PLAIN milk of magnesia. It is a matifying miracle and superior to most high end primers for oily skin. It will also tighten your pores and prevent acne if you wear it daily without overdrying you or harming you. A bottle of 4 dollars at walmart/target lasts for a very long time.
Just apply it to entire face with a sponge, allow it to dry and smooth out whatever white spots you may see. They will disappear and you will be ready for foundation.
For foundation, stick to oil free ones with a matte finish such as: Revlon Colorstay oily/combo or Almay TLC for medium to full coverage. Revlon Mineral Mousse, Almay Smart Shade, Almay Clear Complexion for sheer/light to medium coverage.
Set all with Hard Candy Welcome Matte powder for about 8 dollars at walmart. You will remain matte pretty much the entire day with no touchups during normal weather. Maybe one minor one about 8 hours in on a very hot/humid day.
