CAN YOU USE RESINOL MEDICATED OINTMENT ON HEALING TATTOOS?
I’M GETTING MY TATTOO THIS FRIDAY AND I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN USE RESINOL MEDICATED OINTMENT ON IT WHILE ITS HEALING???
ON THE BACK OF THE TUBE ITS SAYS IT USED FOR CUTS SCABS AND BURNS, TEMPORAILY RELIEVES PAIN AND ITCHING ASSOCIATED WITH: MINOR SKIN IRRITATION, MINOR BURNS, SUNBURN, MINOR CUTS, SCRAPES, INSECT BIRES, RASHES DUE TO POISON IVY/OAK, AND SUMAC
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! Never use anything like that..Neosporin, Bacetracin…anything like that. You don’t want it to actually heal like that. It will scab over and pull out all the color and you will just have to get it redone again, and it might end up looking bad even after a touch up. You want to use a UNSCENTED lotion. Lubriderm is my favorite…it will keep the tattoo moist, and prevent it from scabbing up. You don’t want to use too much though, just enough to moisten it. Also when you first get the tattoo, leave the bandage on for an hour or so. Once that time is up, gently wash it off with LUKEWARM water and a little bit of soap that you sudded up in your hands first…rinse it off and let it air dry, or gently pat dry. Wait a few minutes and then put the lotion on it..keep putting lotion on the tattoo 3-5 times a day and it should heal up fine. Also if it does scab up, DO NOT pick..hopefully you know that though. Anyway, enjoy your new tattoo!! They are so much fun.
